Questions people ask
When do I need a delivery challan?
When goods move without a tax invoice: job work, samples, goods sent on approval, exhibitions, or stock moved between premises under the same GSTIN. Stock sent to your branch in another state needs a tax invoice, because that branch has its own GSTIN.
Why three copies?
GST rules ask for a challan in triplicate: the original for the receiver, the duplicate for the transporter and the triplicate for you. The maker prints all three, each one marked.
Does a delivery challan show prices?
Yes. The GST rule for challans (CGST Rule 55) asks for the taxable value of the goods on every challan. When the goods go for supply, such as on approval, the challan also shows the GST rate and amount.
Can I turn a quotation into a challan?
Yes. Open the quotation and tap 'Delivery challan' under 'Turn this into'. The customer and items carry over.
