Questions people ask
What should a purchase order include?
Your business and the supplier's details, a PO number and date, the delivery date and address, each item with quantity and rate, the GST, and your payment and delivery terms.
Can I refer to the supplier's quotation?
Yes. Type their quotation number and it prints on the order, so both sides work from the same prices.
Who charges the GST on a purchase order?
The supplier, and only if they are registered under GST. Add their GSTIN and the maker works out CGST and SGST or IGST from their state and the place of supply.
Is a purchase order binding?
Once the supplier accepts it, a purchase order is an agreement for the goods and terms on it. Each order has an 'Accepted by supplier' box for their signature.
