What is an HSN code?
HSN (Harmonised System of Nomenclature) codes classify goods so that tax is applied the same way everywhere. In India, GST invoices show the HSN code of each item, and the code decides the GST rate.
How GST is split
For a sale within one state, GST is split equally into CGST (central) and SGST (state). For a sale from one state to another, the full rate is charged as IGST.
